I first met Hannah and Aaron for an engagement session at Mclaren’s Falls Park here in Tauranga. It was great as we had inclement weather so we kept jumping in and out of my car avoiding showers providing us with an interesting way of getting to know each other and hear about their upcoming wedding day. I could tell this wedding was going to be ‘their day’ – they wanted all the people who are their nearest and dearest part of their special day. So much so we decided to do the majority of their photography first (you may hear this being referred to ‘first-look’). Now this is a funny concept for some Brides to be. They feel it could take away the emotion of walking down the aisle for the first time. When you take a look through their wedding ceremony images to when Aaron spies Hannah walking down the aisle towards him, decide for yourself whether it takes away from the moment. In all my years of photographing couples who do first looks – there is something very special when a couple walk towards each other with the intent of spending the rest of their lives together. It’s a personal one for sure but this wedding is an example of how true meaningful moments are felt. The other thing I loved about Hannah and Aaron is – they put their trust in me to find the look and vibe they were after. I will always be honest and forthright with what can be accomplished in the time frame that we have. We had my lovely second shooter on board – Jo, who started at the boys house while I hung with the girls. We did that fun first look which was intimate with just the two of them up at www.olivetreecottage‘s accommodation which is just up the road from their wedding venue. Their bridal party then joined us and off we zoomed to my special wee spot I’d driven around for hours finding the perfect forest setting. Absolutely LOVED Hannah’s bridesmaids all in their own style and Autumn colour’s. We had some gorgeous light (again the heavens threatened us but didn’t win). After a fun time hanging out with this very fun bridal party we took off back to Olive Tree Cottage in Tauranga and, well …. I’ll let the images here tell the rest of this beautiful couples day. Congratulations Hannah and Aaron, you two are wonderful. – Rochelle and Jo.
