Here’s a (not so little) blurb on some images i re Here’s a (not so little) blurb on some images i recently entered into the NZIPP Iris awards.

I’ll pop a wee story of each image in the comments if of interest to you 😉

My musings as an entrant…
I really enjoyed entering this year, and creating a few pieces for my clients along the way.

I’m already looking forward to NZIPP’s next conference. Because boy, it did look fab this year.

There are so many people who gift their time and work incredibly hard behind the scenes to make these events happen, and I think photographers need to acknowledge this.

So, thank you. ❤️

I’m looking forward to viewing/listening through the other photography categories (great editing distraction)! It looks like there were some incredible imagery created this year, and I certainly don’t envy the judges their job!

 - I also look forward to NZIPP continuing to listen to the voices of working New Zealand wedding photographers and looking at ways to keep the categories relevant to the realities of our industry. 🙏🏼

A big ❤️ to my fellow finalists. It’s always an honour to be a finalist, and to those who won their categories - a big ol’ CONGRATS! 👏

Just a thought … Do awards mean we’re better photographers?
Nope.

Do they sometimes help inspire us, improve us, think outside of the box? Yup.

So my take is Photographer’s, if you want a bit of fun & yr not going to take it too seriously, give it a crack. 😉

Thanks NZIPP - and also a big ups to all the photographers brave enough to enter. It’s definitely an experience we all grow from. ❤️

One of my images recently received a Bronze at the One of my images recently received a Bronze at the Iris Awards.

And I very seldom say this…

…but this one was my favourite.

Not because it’s flashy.
Not because it’s fancy.
Not because everything went perfectly.

Quite the opposite, actually.

It rained and it RAINED. 🌧️😂

Matt & Susannah had planned a true elopement, just the two of them, their celebrant; the amazing team at Falls Retreat, and myself!

And then there was the small problem of the road to the falls being CLOSED. 🤦‍♀️

For months, visitors had only been allowed to travel the southern route because of the roadworks.

But the falls were right there.

And these two were determined.

So the incredibly kind road workers let us walk it.

In the rain.
Through the mud.
With a line of cars waiting patiently 😆

And these two?

They laughed the entire way.

Two lovers completely in the moment having an adventure and absolutely loving every second of it.

Real people.
Real moments.
That’s what weddings are all about.

Matt & Susannah, you will forever have a very special place in my heart. 🤍

“From the moment we met Rochelle at Pure Images, we knew she was the perfect photographer for our wedding. After speaking with a few photographers who didn’t quite click with us, Rochelle stood out immediately. Her confident yet comforting approach during our video chat put us completely at ease. We’re not naturally photogenic, but she assured us she’d guide us through everything, and she absolutely delivered.
We’ve just received our full gallery, and I am speechless! The way Rochelle captured our big day is truly priceless. Every photo tells a story; laughter, tears, and raw emotion—you can feel the moment in every image. Reliving our day through these photos has been incredibly special. Weddings fly by in an instant, but Rochelle’s work brings back every memory, every smile, every tear, and even the funny moments.
Her professionalism and personality made the entire experience stress-free. She worked seamlessly with our MC and was so down-to-earth, which made us feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the day. All weekend, I’ve been glued to these photos, struggling to pick a favorite because they’re all my favorites! Stunning sunsets photos, we were so lucky weather played the part for the evening too.
Rochelle, THANK YOU! You are amazing; your talent, your warmth, and your ability to capture the essence of our day exceeded every expectation. So many compliments from our guests also.
We couldn’t have chosen anyone better.
