Ooo, a blurry pic… but that’s OK because it’s on-t Ooo, a blurry pic… but that’s OK because it’s on-trend, right?

 Ummm wait 🤔

I think it’s only trendy if it’s PURPOSELY blurry? 🤔

But what if it was ACTUALLY unintentional?

I guess that would just be… a mistake?

BUT WAIT! It could have been intentional… therefore trendy… right? 🤔

But yeah, um… I love it because it WASN’T INTENTIONAL, so I guess it’s not trendy. 😆

It’s just… UNINTENTIONALLY UNCOOL.

Ooooo… am I trendy?! 👀

…haha yeah nah 🤔

Unless I can INTENTIONALLY be oof (that’s out of focus, btw), in which case I’d absolutely be nailing the trendy thing.

But I don’t.

Unless it’s unintentional.

😂😂😂

Just messing with ya.
Sometimes it’s really hard to put into words just Sometimes it’s really hard to put into words just how much I LOVE my couples and their people! 🥹❤

So, meet Shanan & Rose - How do I even begin to describe how wild their day was? 😂

... and every now and again I get firsts ...

These two 100% embraced the rain - even when there was a beautiful undercover option available, with all the gorgeous intimacy that @fallsretreat offers! 😆

Nope.

“We’re doing this!”

Whatever the weather decided to throw their way! 🌧

And speaking of throwing… another first for me: Forget the antiquated bridal bouquet toss!

These legends replaced it with a Green Monster and a Mitre 10 gift voucher for the blokes! I’ve never seen grown men move so fast at a wedding! 😂
So no complaining bridesmaids, no stressing about the weather just everyone having the BEST time!

Which, if you ask me, is actually a good metaphor for marriage too. ❤

I have absolutely no doubt these two will tackle whatever life throws their way and have a blinking good laugh while doing it!

So S&R thankyou both for such a ridiculously fun and completely unforgettable day in the stunning Karangahake gorge! ❤

And a huge thank you to the team at The Falls Retreat for your fabulous hospitality. You guys never cease to knock my socks off - from the delicious food to the relaxed, welcoming vibe, you always make it such a pleasure to be there. 👌🏼

And yes… I have finally dried off. 😂

Congratulations S&R! ❤🥂

Not all hero’s wear capes! It was an hour before Not all hero’s wear capes!
It was an hour before the wedding when a good ol Auckland rain shower hit … Darren had run back to the car to grab ☔️ & then around the corner came Jackie well taken care of by some Sunday morning walkers! 🫶🏼
This park is just around the corner from both their homes so I do hope they all get to run into eachother again!

I’m not sure what just happened but I found out la I’m not sure what just happened but I found out last night that I won the APP International Classic Wedding Photographer of the year category & then the APP International Wedding Photographer of the year!

Here’s a (not so little) blurb on some images i re Here’s a (not so little) blurb on some images i recently entered into the NZIPP Iris awards.

I’ll pop a wee story of each image in the comments if of interest to you 😉

My musings as an entrant…
I really enjoyed entering this year, and creating a few pieces for my clients along the way.

I’m already looking forward to NZIPP’s next conference. Because boy, it did look fab this year.

There are so many people who gift their time and work incredibly hard behind the scenes to make these events happen, and I think photographers need to acknowledge this.

So, thank you. ❤️

I’m looking forward to viewing/listening through the other photography categories (great editing distraction)! It looks like there were some incredible imagery created this year, and I certainly don’t envy the judges their job!

 - I also look forward to NZIPP continuing to listen to the voices of working New Zealand wedding photographers and looking at ways to keep the categories relevant to the realities of our industry. 🙏🏼

A big ❤️ to my fellow finalists. It’s always an honour to be a finalist, and to those who won their categories - a big ol’ CONGRATS! 👏

Just a thought … Do awards mean we’re better photographers?
Nope.

Do they sometimes help inspire us, improve us, think outside of the box? Yup.

So my take is Photographer’s, if you want a bit of fun & yr not going to take it too seriously, give it a crack. 😉

Thanks NZIPP - and also a big ups to all the photographers brave enough to enter. It’s definitely an experience we all grow from. ❤️
