Hawkes Bay Elopement Wedding

Elopement Weddings! Nakalia and Jake’s elopement wedding epitomizes everything we know elopements to be and then a WHOLE lot more.

I’ve always found what accompanies elopements are some fabulous back stories, and well this is one definitely to tell the Grand-kids. Honestly there were so many stories that still have me giggling and I know those who were fortunate enough to be present will look back on this day as one of the most special weddings they’ll ever attend. There was Nakalia’s www.dellamore.co.nz wedding dress that arrived 30 minutes before the ceremony with Nakalia not even knowing if it was going to fit or even arrive in time – and she really wasn’t bothered by this! We had ceremony bombing (and dress eating) goats; close family members that were self quarantining from safe distances and did so not only showing respect but massive smiles spread across their faces. (You can see this with some of the images below). Many of their friends joined via live stream to watch the ceremony. I later learn’t the boys dressed up in suits to do so. Now that’s some full respect and bro-love.

Today, (the day I’m blogging this) was the day Nakalia and Jake were to have their wedding. Due to the ww Pandemic outbreak they could foresee in New Zealand the chances were high that we’d all still be in lock-down and they really REALLY wanted to be married and not have to wait for goodness how long. I’ve known Nakalia and her family for a long and special time and I knew how respectful they’d be of the conditions we were all operating in. I was SO impressed with the respect, dignity and complete warmth of their day. Oh and a WHOLE lot of laughter.

At the end of this beautiful day after we were treated to one of those beautiful golden evenings up Te Mata Peak in the very stunning Hawkes Bay, they both admitted it had been a really hard decision to jump ahead of their planned wedding date. BUT, had they known how beautiful, fun and full of joy this day was going to be it would have been an easy decision …. Oh and the dress fitted and it was a beauty 🙂
